University Cooperations

Your link between research, teaching and practice

The close exchange between research and practice, and the dialog on current research trends and projects ensure the knowledge transfer between universities and our company. Moreover, they are of paramount importance for the promotion of new academic talents. Being one of the globally leading steel producers, thyssenkrupp Steel Europe cooperates closely with select university focusing their research activities on materials science and materials technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics and industrial engineering.

Beside thyssenkrupp’s cooperations with universities, there exists a cooperation of thyssenkrupp Steel Europe AG with the Institute of Applied Materials Technology (IAM) of the
Duisburg-Essen University. The institute, which enjoys a long tradition, focuses on casting technology, metal production/metallurgy and metal processing/ forming.

There is another cooperation with the TFH Georg Agricola Bochum with the special target to graduate during an apprenticeship or extra-occupationally in applied material sciences (BA).

The majors of these practical studies are based on the four steps: production, processing, inspection and application of metalic materials.
